Key to the 7 Hundreds bottom left; Explanation key to Cities, County Towns, Market twons, rivers, Turnpike roads, Seats and Parks, Rail Roads, Polling Places etc Central fold as published. Very good condition.In 1841, Joshua Archer produced 17 ecclesiastical maps for ‘The British Magazine’ but he is best known for the series of county maps he engraved for the ‘Curiosities of Great Britain’ published by Thomas Dugdale. These finely engraved maps are characteristic of the functional style practised by most Victorian cartographers who rejected the highly decorative style of their predecessors."
