- "Steel engraving with hand colouring. Overall size : 47.4cms x 32.4cms. Engraved size: 430mm x 290mm. Inset map of Asia Minor.Centre foldas published. Foxed. Handling marks, slight browning to top half of centre fold slight surface damage to top corners, faint pencilled annotation to Afghanistan, otherwise good condition.The map marks the battle of Kabul (1842) during the First Afghan War.Sistan (Sedjestan), an extensive border region between eastern Iran and southwestern Afghanistan, is shown as part of Afghanistan. In 1747 Sistan was under the control of an Afghan after whose death the area was disputed between Iran and Afghanistan. This dispute led to British arbitration and the creation of the Iran - Afghan frontier in 1872. The area now known as the United Arab Emirates was at one time notorious for its pirates and is named “The Pirate Coast” on the map"
