Description:: "Steel engraving with original outline hand colouring augmented by full, later hand colouring of the border (highly decorative with fruits, vines, cactus etc) and vignettes so greatly adding to the impact of the map. Overall size in sand mount : 46.6cms x 38.9cms. Image size : 327mm x 257 mms including publisher’s imprint. Vignettes drawn by H.Warren & engraved by J.Rogers, of Ruins at Uxmal, Yucatan ; Mexican Peasantry ; Gold Washing. Very good condition ; UNFOLDED example. This series is described as ‘the last decorative series of maps’. also this is one of the earliest maps to show California, New Mexico and Texas as parts of the USA. The vignettes were drawn by Henry Warren and engraved by John Rogers , himself soon to emigrate to the USA.
