Description:: "Copper engraving with later hand colouring. Overall size in sand mount : 44.4cms.x 38.1cms. Image size : 313mm.x 243mm. A meeting of the Anacrontic Society, or of the New Beefsteak club, of both of which Captain Morris and the Prince of Wales appear to have been members. One of the grossest collection of songs, containing among others many written by Captain Morris, is known as the Anacreontic collection. Prefixed to this volume, which is in three parts and without date, is a short accoount of the Old and New Beefsteak clubs, the Anacreontic Society, and the Humbut Club in which the following is written:‘His royal Highness the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Orleans, are members of this club: the other contributory members are chifly bon-vivant noblemen, military officers of rank, gentlemen of the learned professions, rich and respectable citizens, and other men of distinction in life’."
