Copper engraving with later hand colouring. Old folds as issued. Some faint offsetting in blank areas and marks to margin else very good condition. Scarce map of the Cherokee Nation, shown between the Mississippi, Hogohegee, Savannah and Chattahuche Rivers. Numerous villages and notes are shown, including a note regarding the early explorations by Col. Paively and Mr. Kelly, and additional notes. From the February, 1760 London Magazine, engraved by Thomas Kitchen. The map illustrated an article describing a British expedition against the Cherokee and the importance of obtaining their allegiance to prevent French attacks from the west. It is one of the earliest printed maps of western North Carolina. The map focuses on the Cherokee lands at the headwaters of the French Broad, Little Tennessee, and Savannah Rivers and was issued as a result of the Indian attacks of 1759-60.

In the UK, now, we send either by recorded or registered delivery so that the parcels are trackable - we are happy to send to a work address but please add the name of the organisation or the Post Office will not deliver the parcel.
We will send out parcels within two days of receiving the all clear from the online banking services. Parcels should arrive within 2 to 3 days in the U.K. and within 21 days elsewhere. In the rare and unfortunate case that damage does occur in transit all packaging must be kept.
