Copper engraving with full wash original colouring . French text verso. Overall sheet size: 58.6cms x 49.6cms; image size: 468mm x 377mm.Highly decorative title cartouche with two satyrs. Finely engraved sea in typical Hondius style. The source of the Nile is shown as a series of lakes located in the Lune montes (Mountains of the Moon). Mercator adds a lake named Sc. Haf Iac which feeds both the Zambere River and the Nile. The legendary (and imaginary ) Christian King, Prester John, sits on his throne just north of the Abissinia boundary. Browning to verso from a previous framing, backstrip remaining white however, one remnant of old tape at top of centrefold on verso; small area of loss at left edge of the very large margin (see magnified image), nowhere near map itself; three very small areas of pigment loss in Mani congo regnum else stunning example which superb hand colouring

In the UK, now, we send either by recorded or registered delivery so that the parcels are trackable - we are happy to send to a work address but please add the name of the organisation or the Post Office will not deliver the parcel.

We will send out parcels within two days of receiving the all clear from the online banking services. Parcels should arrive within 2 to 3 days in the U.K. and within 21 days elsewhere. In the rare and unfortunate case that damage does occur in transit all packaging must be kept.
