Steel engraving with original outline hand colouring augmented by exquisite later hand colouring of the border and vignettes.. Overall size in off white fully conservation grade mount and back : 39.4cms x 49.6cms. Image size : 247mm x publisher's imprint.. Vignettes by H.Winkles, of Georgetown ; Ataraipu ; New Amsterdam ; Christmas Cataract, River Berbice. Uncommon UNFOLDED example. A little faint grey marking in bottom margin visible at mount edge and at imprint but not not offensive and otherwise in very good condition. The maps of the countries of the world published by Tallis are very finely engraved and include illustrative vignettes by over twenty different artists making them unusually decorative . John Tallis is among the best known of all map-makers and publishers. The maps were issued in 1851 to commemorate the Great Exhibition in London and this series is often described as 'the last decorative series of maps'.

In the UK, now, we send either by recorded or registered delivery so that the parcels are trackable - we are happy to send to a work address but please add the name of the organisation or the Post Office will not deliver the parcel.

We will send out parcels within two days of receiving the all clear from the online banking services. Parcels should arrive within 2 to 3 days in the U.K. and within 21 days elsewhere. In the rare and unfortunate case that damage does occur in transit all packaging must be kept.
