Monseigneur le Pince de Galles, dans le Strand A Londres 1752. le Prix est d'une demy-Guinee The 1644 original version of this map published by Jenner was specifically for the use of the Royal and Parliamentary forces during the English Civil War and was copied almost exactly from the map of England and Wales by Christopher Saxton 1583, and shows rivers, bridges, lakes, towns and principal villages and did not feature roads but this 1752 version published by John Rocque in does. It is noticeable that there are no coats of arms or royal devices on the map. Copper engraving with original outline hand colouring (faint). Overall sheet size: 58.8cms x 46.6cms; image size: 563mm x 410mm. The entire map is in six sheets and was intended to be folded for ease of use, this is the SW sheet and shows many old folds as issued ; archival repairs on verso to foot of centrefold and at two holes at two fold points are repaired; left hand corner tip repaired and repair to chips at foot of centrefold; overall dusting and time staining; crease on left hand side but nonetheless a good example of an uncommon map.
