John Senex (fl.1690 - 1740)

Engraver, publisher, surveyor and geographer to Queen Anne, Senex was also an astronomer and globe maker. He produced pocker globes as well as larger globes in partnership with Charles Price.

He collaborated further with Charles Price and James Maxwell to produce several fine maps of the world and the continents and also many loose maps of various countries.

Inspired, perhaps, by his interest in road maps he issued, in 1719, a miniature, revised edition of Ogilby's 'Britannia' and many susequent editions of this work were published.
