Steel engraving, original outline hand colouring. Overall size, hinged in off white fully conservation grade mount and back with decor ative v groove : 36cms x 42.6cms. Image size : 205mm.x 269mm. Centrefold as published. At bottom of map is a highly decorative chain of mountains, each named and with their heights marked. Key of Statistical divisions. Colour key to Eastern States or New England. Middle States.Southern States. Western States. Unorganised States: Minni Sota, Nebraka, Western Territories, Texas. Settlements marked according to their population. Very good condition apart from one very faint mark above the second 'A' in Atlantic. John Crane Dower (1791? - 1847) engraver, draughtsman, publisher and printer. Engraved maps for the Greenwood brothers for Thomas Moule, Henry Teesdale and George Bradshaw.
