Old folds as issued; archival repair and re-instatement to left and right margin and bottom centrefold else good condition. Around 1655 Moxon (1627-1700 ) visited Amsterdam, probably to learn from the Dutch if there was a northern passage to the Indies. In Amsterdam he met father Claes and son Nicolaes Visscher. He used their bible-maps for a set of bible-maps of his own. These appeared for the first time in1671 in his book Sacred Geographie or Scriptural Maps. This map shows the travels of St. Paul and the Apostles it covers the territory from Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf. At the top are 4 and at the bottom 5 pictures depicting 25 scenes from the Acts of the Apostles. Bottom left: a coat of arms of Seth, Lord Bishop of Salisbury. In the Mediterranean Sea more than 10 ships are drawn. The river Jordan still rises in the Arabian desert and there is still a river between the Sea of Galilee and the Mediterranean.
