Laid paper with watermark. Engraving with original, vibrant hand colouring , the effect being one of looking at a watercolour not a print. This was a hand colourist of consummate skill. Title , date (bottom right) and J Edwards del et sculp (John Edwards was both the artist and the engraver) bottom left all within the platemark ; 38.2cms x 54.5cms; image size: 236mm x 330mm. Some age toning to margins with odd mark bottom left; top margin edge darkened and top left folded over ; five very short edge tears at margin edge top margin else very good condition indeed.
John Edwards (1742-1815) was an engraver, printer, flower painter, designer for the textile industry and his work was exhibited at the Royal Academy and at the Society of Artists, of which he was a member.
