Centrefold as issued; bottom half of left margin edge a little browned and curled else excellent condition.Map of the southern part of Portugal, including part of Spain and Gibraltar. The large decorative title cartouche presents the coat of arms surmounted by a crown, a representation of Jesus Christ on the cross leans at the bottom. This map is based on the map by Giovanni Antonio Bartolomeo Rizzi Zannoni, one of the leading cartographers of the late 18th century, as well as being an astronomer, surveyor and mathematician. He was born in Padua, worked in Venice and was engaged by the governments of Austria and France to produce maps. This map however shows the area north to part of Galicia. Rizzi Zannoni was the first to execute the triangulation of Poland, assisting in the French and English border survey of American in 1757, and serving as the hydrographer of the Dépot de Marine. Highly decorative and very detailed.
