Copper engraving. Overall size: 49cms x 40.4cms. Image size: 470mm x 384mm including title. The whole laid on old paper some considerable time ago (presumably because the left hand margin is trimmed to 3mm beyond the neatline there ; faint folds as issued). Some finger marking and odd spots of browning in margins else good condition. A beautifully engraved bird's-eye plan and view of the stronghold of Cony in Piedmont by Isaac Basire. This particular plate does not appear in the early editions and therefore is less common. Explanation key top left Governour's Palace, Mills, Palace where Francis Ist lodged etc
