Copper engraving with original outline hand colouring. Overall sheet size: 72.8cms x 55cms. Image size: 668mm x 480mm. Centre fold as published. Highly detailed, finely engraved map of the area stretching from Hudson and James Bays to newfoundland and the Grand Bank and to Delaware Bay, the upper Chesapeake, Pennsylvania and Lake Ontario. Early reference to the State of Vermonte. In New York is the description: This vast tract of Land which is the antient (sic) one of Four Beaver-Hunting Countries of the Six nations is not yet Surveyed. Large cartouche at upper right displays a bear atop ornate scroll-work. Below the cartouche is a lengthy, engraved note referring to fishing claims in the region. Old boundary outlined in red showing the extent the French ruled Canada. Many native American tribes marked as well as Post Houses, creeks, rivers and mountains. Extremely faint browning at centrefold else fine.
