Excellent wide margins (sheet size under mount: 223mm x 300mm). Title in cartouche;two scales of distance; compass point. Very large margins. Very attractive, uncommon map. Robert Morden's miniature maps are among the earliest miniature maps engraved and published in England and are very detailed. Robert Morden was among the first successful commercial map makers in England in the latter part of the 17th Century. He was a publisher, bookseller, mapseller, cartographer, globe and instrument maker. He worked in London at the Atlas in New Cheapside and at the Atlas in Cornhill from 1675 to 1703 and his output of maps was widely varied. He is perhaps best known for a series of county maps issues in atlas format and as playing cards. He also issued a series of county maps for Camden's Britannia in 1695 and 1722 with subsequent re-issues. He is perhaps best known for several very rare early maps of the British Colonies in North America, which are among the earliest and most desirable maps of Colonial American. His miniature series of maps, both of British Counties and countries of the world are also highly prized.
