Long title:. Maps of Java and Borneo. The map of Java includes a sectional view of the mountains and volcanoes showing comparative heights. The maps by vignettes illustrating the peoples, places and wildlife: Javan Woman of the Lower Class Bride of the Higher Class, Dyak Females Borneo, river Sarawak & Town of Kuchin, Saghai Dyak S.E. Coast of Borneo, Serebis Dyak, N.W. Coast of Borneo, Javan Labourer Javan Warrior etc .. Overall size in hinged off white fully conservation grade mount and back with decorative v groove: 47.6cms x 63.1cms. Image size: 308mm x 456mm. Original colour and later hand colouring. Mount grazes the rump of the tiger top right else very good condition. Archibald Fullarton and Company were a Glasgow based publisher operating towards the end of the nineteenth century. The company produced a number of atlases, and books containing maps, including Fullarton's Parliamentary Gazetteer Of England And Wales and The Royal Illustrated Atlas, Of Modern Geography. The latter publication featured attractively decorated maps such as this example, with small vignette views of local interest surrounding the engraved map.
