Plan. The Wards of Coleman Street and Bassishaw. Published according to Act of Parliament 1754 for Stows Survey. Copper engraving with later hand colouring.Engraved by B.Cole. Overall size : 32cms.x 38.8cms. Image size : 244mm.x 238mm. Old folds as issued, some greyness at bottom fold - see magnified image. Two repaired marginal splits outside neatline else good condition. This plan was published in Strype's 1755 annotated edition of Stow's 'Survey of England'. The plan's title features in cartouche at top right, with compass star at bottom centre, and scale bar at bottom right. The keys to streets, yards, halls, courts and private properties appears in a table to the right of the plan, with New Bethelem Hospitall (Bedlam) shown pictorially. The original drawing was created by Richard Blome in the late 17th Century, but was not published until this version was produced in 1720 to accompany an edition of Stow's Survey of London.
