Copper engraving with original outline colouring. An attractive but ratheroddly shaped map of the mainland and islands, with the Orkneys delineated in an inset panel. Gerard and Leonard Valk are best known as re-publishers of earlier mapmakers' plates, however, here their own work shows precision in engraving with a wealth of place names. Scarce and highly detailed map of Scotland, published by Valk. The map locates towns, roads, rivers, lakes, islands, etc. Split top centrefold repaired on verso 10.4cms and 3cms bottom; small 'v' missing from top of centrefold, browning at margin edges and one slight nick else finely engraved, very detailed map in good condition.
