Copper engraving with full wash original hand colouring, the different colours indicating the different boundaries.  Overall sheet size: 31.8cms x 38.5cms; image size: 292mm x 340mm.  Very clear and elegant engraving.  Key to the colouring in Bay of Bengall: British Possessions; British Allies; Mahratta States; Nizam Territories; Toppo’s ; The Seiks; Timur Shah’s; Small States; tributary States are not full Coloured. Uncommon and beautiful map.  

Thomas Brown 1764-1820 was an Edinburgh based bookseller, publisher, printseller, stationer and originally an engraver.  His maps are uncommon.
