Long title: An Accurate Map of Radnorshire Drawn from an actual Survey, with various Improvements. Illustrated with Historical Extracts relative to its Natural Produce, Air, Soil, Trade, Manufactures, &c.Copper engraving ; later hand colouring.  Decorative title cartouche with landscape and animals. Scale of distance at bottom centre.  Overall size  : 54.1cms.x 36.6cms. Image size : 526mm.x 367mm. Many farms, houses and the owners thereof shown on the map itself. Remargined at top and bottom of map with old paper to facilitate mounting and framing.  Old hand writing on verso labels the map Radnorshire and Brecknockshire.  Pencil writing from past mapseller proclaims this to be  a 1st issue of c 1754 and ‘very rare’.  Interesting historical and geographical information is presented in the blank areas.  Good strong impression in very good condition.
Thomas Kitchin, 1718-84. Kitchin worked as a publisher and engraver from premises at The Star in Holborn, London. He was an engraver of the highest ability  and produced a broad range of books on a variety of subjects including topographical works. By himself Kitchen produced a large number of maps of every kind for periodicals such as the London Magazine and for books on history and antiquities. He is probably best known though, for his parnership with Emanuel Bowen with whom he published, in 1755, The Large English Atlas, which contained the finest county maps of the 18th.Century.
